Mobile Ensemble

In June of 2019, our chapter was one of three in the country to receive a sizeable grant from the American Center for Elemental Music and Movement in the form of a full ensemble of Orff instruments.  This "Mobile Ensemble" is intended for use by anyone of our chapter members who has the need for such equipment.  The BHVAOSA board is accepting applications from members who would like to host this equipment in their classroom for 2 or 3 months of this school year.

BHVAOSA - WINNER OF THE ACEMM MOBILE ENSEMBLE GRANT!

About the Mobile Ensemble Initiative

The American Center for Elemental Music and Movement (ACEMM) has announced that three instrumental ensembles have been granted to American Orff Schulwerk Association (AOSA) chapters that wish to partner with ACEMM in fulfilling its mission to reach out to teachers, students, schools and communities to provide opportunities for better music education. The goal has been to place the ensembles with qualified instructors, in locations where they may serve the greatest need.  ACEMM feels that local AOSA chapters are uniquely positioned to identify school or community needs and place the Ensembles among their membership in good locations. The three AOSA Chapters each received a Mobile Ensemble through an application process that identified how this initiative fits in with their own goals. The Ensembles are comprised of quality pitched and un-pitched instruments, in new or very good condition.

As partners of ACEMM, the BHVAOSA has agreed to document the use of the Ensemble through a yearly report including details on where and how the Ensemble is being utilized; supplying photos and/or videos of the ensemble in ‘action;’ and a general plan for the subsequent use of the ensemble for the following year.

Members interested in signing out the ensemble for part of the current school year should apply online using our google form ACEMM Mobile Ensemble Application.

Our hope in acquiring this grant is to bring awareness to and advocate for elemental music-making by giving students and teachers the resources to make it possible. We hope the ACEMM Mobile Ensemble will allow teachers to advocate for the Orff Schulwerk approach to music education and show administration, school board members, parents and other community stakeholders how beneficial it is to give children access to a complete music education.
